Man Ray

Man Ray was an American born, French photographer. He was a painter for 35 years but always enjoyed photography and once said it was like living two lives and he was also known for his sculptures. He used black and white film and was one of the first people to do so. For a long time he studied photograms and eventually make many of them, including shorts films using them. His first major work was a patchwork, neither photography or painting, and was influenced by Picasso and cubism.
Man Ray was fond of his chess sets that he had made himself and used them a lot in his photographs and paintings. Often in his portraits work, if he wasnt using the chess board he would use different props too make the images more interesting.
